Energy saving measure of the local community
In November 2022, the municipal council unanimously decided to reduce street lighting in the municipality due to energy-saving measures. A working group has now been working and has selected which streetlights will be switched off in the near future. These streetlights have been marked with a so-called lantern ring (see illustration in the appendix). I would like to expressly mention that the working group took into account traffic safety, bus stops, intersection areas, and access routes to the kindergarten. The measure was mainly carried out in traffic-calmed areas. In addition, one light on streetlights with two lampshades will be switched off in the future. In total, we will take 33 streetlights off the grid in the municipality of Schwedelbach-Pörrbach, which represents an energy saving of approximately 25%. This will also save the municipality around €4,000 in costs annually. In the calendar year 2023, the municipal council will address the conversion to LED streetlights so that we can contribute to climate protection in the long term. Mayor Henning Schaumlöffel
